Prof. Mahteme Bekele, MD

Professor Mahteme Bekele is an internationally recognized Ethiopian surgeon who is a Fellow of The College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA). Professor Mahteme Bekele Muleta has received his MD degree from Addis Ababa University in 2005, a specialty certificate in General Surgery from Addis Ababa University in 2011, and his Subspecialty certificate in transplant surgery from St. Pauls Hospital Millennium Medical College in 2018.

He has also received his Subspecialty certificate in Colorectal surgery from St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College. Prof. Mahteme has also done several short-term training and courses in-country and abroad. Professor Mahteme has published more than 100 articles in different reputable national and international journals.

Prof. Mahteme has served Ethiopia at various levels in his department, the college, and the public. To mention a few, Prof. Mahteme was Director of the Emergency Directorate, Director of the In-patient Directorate, and Head of the Department of Surgery at SPHMMC.
